Overclocking problems...need help!

I went to overclock the E6300 in my IP35-E. While I was at it, I changed the memory settings to 4-4-4-12.
When I went to reboot, I had no video.
I powered off the PC, shorted the CMOS jumper...nothing.
I tried it again, this time removing the CMOS battery, the shorting the jumper...nothing.
I tried unplugging the 24-pin plug, removing the battery, shorting the jumper...nothing.
I tried holding down the DEL key when powering on...nothing.
I tried a different stick of ram...nothing.
I've re-seated the video card...nothing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

hold the INS key for 2 mins after you power on...

unplug the power supply power when you short the cmos, and short it for 2 mins

OK...I tried both of these suggestions, but still no video.
I also tried using a PS/2 keyboard, thinking that might help when pressing the DEL key before this post, but it didn't.
Is something screwed up?

try just ram & cpu & HDD. make sure you have the mobo speaker connected properly so you can hear audibles & posts

see if u can get it to post or screen up. use vid card too

24pin atx and 12v 8 pin auxillary need to be connected as well

have you ever gotten it to post, whats the bios version? I had a problem when installing my abit ip35-e, and e8400 thought it was a doa mobo

first i had to flash the bios to 15, then turns out my old ide HDD was bad $42 later at the local computer shop, the guy told me that. went to BB and bought a new HD, does anyone know bestbuys HD return policy for instore?

I don't know if this thing has a speaker or not.
I'm not sure of the bios...I just know it does the double-boot thing (which it isn't doing right now).

yeah it has a speaker. right next to where you connect your case switch to the power switch dongle on the mobo is a 4 pin connector with only a +5v and ground on the left and right pin labled speaker

oh nm 6300. well i dunno then man

you know to clear the cmos, you have to short the pins 2-3 from the orginal 1-2 out of the 1-2-3 pin combination on the cmos jumper.

its not like other boards.

Yes, it was running fine up until I got a wild hair up my butt & went to overclock it. I had run it at 400mhz fsb before, but had never attempted to manually change the memory settings.

Yes...I got out the trusty owner's manual to make sure I was doing it right.

Symptom has multiple causes, some with calm fixes after a day's panic, some maybe requiring RMA for the MOBO.

I'm even guessing it could be the VGA.

However, you could try this: Remove the heatsink, remove the processor. Let it sit. Replace the processor and heatsink. Clear the CMOS -- and take time and care with that, too.

If it fails to post again, give it a couple reset-switch punches.

You could also try replacing the PLCC BIOS chip, but that would seem called for only if you had a bad BIOS flash.

OH YEAH. ONE MORE THING. PULL YOUR MEMORY MODULES. IF POSSIBLE, REPLACE WITH A SPARE PAIR. OTHERWISE, TEST ONE AT A TIME AND SEE OF ON MODULE (WHICHEVER IT IS) WILL ALLOW YOU TO BOOT.

[I burned out some Crucial Ballistix, so that's another problem that has the same symptom.]

And I'd say -- start with the easiest -- the RAM swap. Then see if pulling and replacing the processor makes a difference.

No -- I shoot from the hip too much --

(1) swap and test the RAM; (2) swap and test the VGA; (3) pull the processor and then re-install, or replace with a similar processor.

OK...I took the mb out of the case, took all parts off including hsf & cpu. I re-applied thermal compound, re-installed cpu, hsf, memory & video, then took & laid it out on cardboard box & hooked another psu to it. I powered it up & got into the bios & went back to default settings.
Cool, I thought.
I then re-installed everything back into my case, started it up & same thing...no video. So now i'm thinking that it's possibly the psu (i've read stories about the HX520 & the IP35-E not liking each other), so I hooked it up to the other psu. Nothing.
OK...i'm stumped.

*Edit*
I took all the mounting screws out of the mb & it posted, but doesn't detect any drives. I can get to the Abit splash screen, hit DEL to enter setup & after what I consider a lengthy delay, the menu appears. Says nothing on SATA channel 1 or 2 when I have my 2 hard drives there. I tried using different SATA cables, but nothing.

You might have to enable the various SATA controllers in the BIOS (or set them to SATA mode) first, since your BIOS has presumably been totally reset. Did you load failsafe or optimized defaults? It's always a good idea to do that after resetting the CMOS.

go in and setup Sata in the bios menu. make sure your running the sata bus controller and ob sata is enabled.

then make sure you have an ide or sata cdrom attached, when goto boot order, it will show the drive in the bios menu.

put in your xp/vista disc and put your cdrom as boot device #1. assuming your hard drives are recognized, you should be able to press any key to boot from cd, and enter the xp installation setup

OK...I got it going, but I think I may have issues.
I went into the bios & enabled the SATA.
I'm using a Corsair HX520. When the bios wasn't detecting my hdd's (2 on one cable), I moved the cable to the next opening on the psu. It detected them.
Also, it seems that there may be a grounding issue w/my motherboard. When I had the case sitting in my lap working on it, it started up fine. When I set it upright, it shut down, then restarted w/no video. I picked it back up, took the top 3 screws out of the motherboard & now it seems to be working ok.
Perhaps my kitties will find some gremlins running around the house tonight...hehehe.
Well, it's bedtime...4:30am comes early for us old guys!
Thanks for the help, y'all...maybe y'all can figger this other stuff out as well.
