Overclocking potential of a *Mobile* Duron 1.1GHz (Morgan)

I was looking to upgrade my brother's system after his Duron 700@933 final stopped working at 933MHz (made it over 5 years of solid operation at 1.91v!) I bought a Duron 1.1GHz off Ebay, and when it arrived I realized it was a MOBILE Duron 1.1GHz - DHM1100AHQ1B (Morgan core). I have read that the regular Morgan core Duron's topped out at 1.2GHz and had pretty minimal overclocking potential (.18u / Alu. interconnects), but this mobile variety has a much lower vCore.

So, I was wondering if anyone has any experience with these mobile Durons. The regular Morgan core is rated at 1.75v, and having run a Spitfire core (1.6v) at 1.91v for almost 5 years, I am pretty comfortable running this CPU at the same. How high should I hope to get with this thing?

What alot of OC'ers don't know is that Durons ran hot directly from the factory. They need a really good HSF to cool them. 1.9v is prett high on the voltage, consider yourself lucky that it lasted 5 years. Surely your mobo supports Athlons as well ? Why not ditch the mobile Duron in favor of an Athlon??

Morgan core Durons were made from 1.0-1.3GHz. IIRC they can be multiplier unlocked using the "L1 pencil trick." They had some enhancements over the Spitfire besides higher frequencies. I think one enhancement was data prefetch.

If the mobile Morgan works in the motherboard, go for broke! Unlock the baby and OC the crap out of it. CPU heatsink/fans have progressed over the past 5 years so perhaps look into getting a new unit. You'll get better cooling and it won't be as noisy as the 7000RPM 60x25mm Deltas that were popular five years ago. Look for ones that clip onto all three lugs on both sides of the socket and that uses an 80x25mm or 92x25mm fan. Good choices would be the Thermalright SI-92A or Scythe Katana. You may also want to look into finding some of the older Thermalright units. Prior to their switch to all heatpipes they made some killer ones that were top performers of the Athlon XP age (1-3 years ago).
