overclocking possibilities with 1.4 t-bird

im running an ECS k7s5a with the resistor and inductor/ferrite bead mods done to it.....and a 1.4ghz t-bird stepping AYHJA..with 512mb of crucial pc2100 (2x256mb)........can this be overclocked significantly??.......1.4 t-birds are already known for their heat output......im using a volcano 6cu+ heatsink fan combo.....with some compusa brand silver heatsink compound....the cpu runs anywhere from 115F to 150F depending on room temperature in the house............so whaddaya guys think???????

i haven't had any luck past 1567MHz...my voltage is at 1.85 (in asus bios but really 1.91 according to MBM). My cpu runs at 49C idle and 51-53C load depending on what I do.

i have success posting at speeds of 1600MHz and even 1650MHz but it's inconsistent and XP refuses to load

so are you changing the multiplier or the fsb frequency??
would it not overclock without bumping up the voltage?
is your cpu the AYHJA stepping also?
how much hotter (if any) does it run o/c'ed than if it is at default speed?

i think 100mhz +/- isnt worth my time messing with it........

11.5@136, cpu temps rose about 3C idle and 4C load. Once I get home I'll tell you the exact stepping (at work now).

I used to have a 1.4Ghz AYHJA Y doing 1.6Ghz at 1.8v before I got the new Xp1600.

My rig is no 1.4, but I can get it to 1.53Ghz from 1Ghz, posts @ 1.6.

Runs @ 46-7 ºC under load. Using GW CAKII-38 cooling.

What do the mods do Kosh69? Give you additionsl voltage/multiplier options?

Anyway, I have the K7S5A with the latest cheepobios, and an Athlon Thunderbird 1.4GHz like you. Memory is 2x256MB of Kingston PC2100 ValueRam with Nanya memory chips, which I'm able to tweak to pretty aggressive settings surprisingly. Without any hardware mods, I'm able to get to 1.5GHz very stably(143MHz FSB). The system runs at around 54C idle and up to 60C when full load(rc5). I'm using an Alpha PAL 8045 with a 43CFM Sunon fan.

Well mine is a 1,33 Ghz TB, but cant go over 10.5 x 147 Mhz. I hv AK35GTR mobo, 256 Mb PC2700 Mushkin, vcore 1,85.
It post over 1.6 Ghz but cant load the XP. I get temps reading 46 @ idle and 52 @ full load.

My 1.4 is running@166fsb x 9 multiplier. It's only 1.5 but its very stable and I'm happy.

Goi...no the mods are to fix some memory/data error problems some (quite a few actually) people are having with the K7S5A and 1.4 t-bird combos.......i had problems ever since i got my k7s5a with data verification failing when i burn cd's (Nero, CDRWin), and my computer failed several of the tests when i ran memtest86 and just general quirkiness with the board.....you can read more about hit here FAQ 1.60 on Data Corruption and there are several rather lengthy threads on this in the alt.comp.periphs.mainboard.elitegroup group on usenet.....basically the mods are to change out two 56Ohm resistors for 46Ohm to get the signals from the cpu up....and you add a ferrite bead/inductor to the back of the board to reduce noise on the 12V line from the power supply to the MB.....
