Overclocking P4 1.6A problems.

I have a P4 1.6A proc MSI 845G Max mobo, and 2 sticks of Crucial PC2100 DDR ram.

When I increase the FSB to 125, the clock speed goes up to 125 X 16 = 2 GHz
The boot up screen show DRAM frequency as 333MHz

The system boots up find, but I couldn't boot into Windows XP.

Then I decreased the FSB to 115. I could boot into WinXP but unstable.

I am wondering if this is because the DRAM frequency? I heard something about the ratio stuff, but I don't understand.
Anyone can help? Thanks.

check you bios mem ratio setting...you might be running 4:5...set it to 1:1
and if unstable...up voltage of cpu....vcore....make sure you have good cooling...watch CPU temp.....i also suggest not to adjust vcore more than 1.75v

I have looked through those BIOS setting so many times. I don't I saw such setting for mem ratio.
Maybe I missed something?

It should be under where frequency and voltages are set in the bios, and likley is right next to settings for cpu clock and vcore....if it was set to 1:1 you should have been able to run 133fsb and it would be at pc2100...If 4:5 is being used...

115=287.5mhz...crucial should do easy....

125=312.5mhz....may be tougher....

Try going ahead and bumping vcore up a notch...could be cpu just as welll
