it's possible to increase FSB. but it's not worth it bcuz you'll get a very hot laptop and your battery is running out faster. Intel Speed Step technology is to slow down CPU clock speed when it's not in use to save battery

Thank you, I know how to get into the bios, but I want to know how to be able to see all of the options.

Those are probably the only options that Compaq built into the BIOS. OEMs don't typically allow you to change all the BIOS settings, because most computer users (obviously not Anandtech Forum users, but we are hardly the majority) would only damage their computer if they had full access to the BIOS. To increase your FSB speed you may have to use a program like CPUFSB. Do a search at Google and you'll find several sites where you can download it.

Good luck!

littlezipp,
Since anything is not impossible, I can't say it's impossible to OC your Compac Laptop. Compac or any other manufacturers don't want you to OC so they lock their BIOS setting so you can't change except the main options like the booting sequence, enabling L1/L2, clock/suspend setting, etc.. Unless you come up with some kind of BIOS programming and to overwrite everything in there, you could OC your Laptop but other than that, there's no way. I have never seen anyone able to successfuly OC their Laptops yet.

I have overclocked my Compaq laptop, a 1247 model, was a K6-2 400 Mhz, changed to a K6-3+ 450 overclocked to 600 Mhz, used the dip switches on the motherboard. (the settings are slik screened on the board)

The end result is a much faster laptop with a battery that lasts longer and laptop runs much cooler :) Most of this gain is from going to a K6-3+

Hi,

I have a N150 PIII 800 and I did overclock it to 840mhz with CPUFSB. I just randomly picked clock generators in the program until it worked. No matter what generators I chose it could only go up to 840mhz. After this small success and lots of lockups I gave up the overclocking. Sorry, I did not record and can not remember which clock generators work for Compaq N150.
