Overclocking not very effective by fsb... what can i do?

I have a msi Pro 2A with a 1ghz t-bird... I figured since it was new id leave the pencil trick for unlocking it alone for a while. Messing with the fsb i can only get it to be stable at 104mhz with the new 2.0 bios. Any higher than 104 and it hangs... Anyone have any comments on what can be done to increase the fsb stability? and not resorting (just yet) to doing the pencil trick? Thanks

Unless there is a new BIOS around that will allow you to reduce the multiplier below the default processor speed, I think you are going to have to join the bridges. The Pro2A should have (but does not have) the ability to underclock below default processor speeds to help in cases where you have a high end processor, ( 1000-1200 ) and want to underclock to bring the FSB up higher to increase system performance and memory bandwidth. I have no idea why MSI would design it that way with the high processor speeds available now.

It is not hard to join the bridges, just look around the forum, and you will find plenty of info.

have you tried bumping up your Vcore a notch or two to see if it helps?

my vcore is running right now at 1.83 so i didnt know if that was a little on the high side since i think i only have two more options above that in my bios (i havent checked in a while so i could be wrong).
Does your memory play any part in overclocking by fsb?

With that mobo (and I just got mine delivered yesterday), I believe you can set the RAM bus speed separately from the FSB - so you could try to OC the FSB to say 105 from the default 100, but still run PC133 RAM at 133.
