mkay, now, i got my new motherboard (epox 8rda+) a week ago or so, and i decided to see how good of an overclocker it is. So, in went my XP1700+ (i guess its just a palimino or whatever) and i tried o/cing it to 138/138 (1800+) i ran 3dmark and it rebooted at like the 13th test. Strange i thought, people held the board's capabilities in such high regard. O well, i turn the FSB down a notch to 137/137 (1.52ghz or so) and i run 3dmark again, and it was fine. After that i tried more and more to overclock it past 1800+, trying to hit 1900+ or even 2000+ but it just wouldnt go. Actually at one point when i had the FSB at 146/146 and it didnt enter windows, and i tried to turn the FSB down, the bios wouldnt show properly. Well i finally fixed it and put it back down to 137/137 cpu FSB. So, my question is, does anyone know what might be causing the rebooting? i was wondering if it was my memory. its 256mb of Crucial pc2100. I thought it might be that the memory FSB goes up when the cpu FSB goes up and it couldnt handle it Should i disable the option that pushes the memory fsb higher as the cpu fsb goes higher and just leave it at 133/133 and push the cpu? Should i download MemTest and check the memory? Or is it my PSU? i just have some 300W atx one. If it helps, my comp stats are :

Athlon XP 1700+
Epox 8rda+
256mb crucial pc2100
asus v8200 geforce 3 pure
300W atx PSU

if uv got some decent cooling( thermaltake coolers or whatever is good), then i would try to increase the cpu voltage...

try to see in bios if u have adjustments for cpu core voltage... to be safe, it has been said that u should not go beyond 1.85volts on any AMD CPU.... then try to overclock again...

right now im running my AXP 1800+ at 11.5x146 with a voltage of 1.85volts....

happy overclocking......

You might want to make sure that the ddr is on 2.77 the 8rda+ undervolts the ram. Crucial ram will usually do the speeds you are trying but there is no guarrantee. Install motherboard monitor and see what the temp of your cpu is. Also try the ram in the 3rd slot instead of the first.

;) I'd say it's the RAM, try setting the higher RAM timings which will allow as much lee-way for the higher clocks. Consider looking to PC2700.
