Thanks in advance to all that answer...

I have done a lot of searching on these boards and although this is my first post, I have been a lurker for about a year. A lot of great information get's shared here and I really like what people contribute, it all makes us better when it comes to our equipment.

My situation is that I have a Athlon XP 2600+ Barton Core and would like to overclock it to help get a little more performance edge out of it.

My rig specs are as follows;

AMD Athlon 2600+ Barton
Asus A7N8X-X MoBo
Zalman CNPS7700-Cu CPU Fan
Gigabyte 6600GT 128MB DDR3 8x AGP Video Card
512MB Crucial Memory
120GB WD Hard Drive
BenQ 822a Dual Layer DVD Burner
Coolermaster Centurion Case

Any settings would be greatly appreciated, especially if you have a rig the same as mine and have it Overclocked.

I have plenty of cooling in my rig but can add more if need be.

Thanks for your help!

Cheers! :)

What is the speed of the RAM (PC3200, PC2700, PC3500....) that will dictate what kind of FSB you can realistically expect.

It looks like your board doesn't support Dual Channel so that might hurt you if you start running more DIMMs but with just one you will be fine.

The defaults for your chip are 166 * 11.5 and if you have been lurking on the board for a while and have researched then you know that multi * RAM = Clock Speed. So set your FSB to RAM SPD and then run Prime95 to ensure that your system starts stable.

The next thing you might want to try is....
VCore +0.1v (add 0.1v to your default voltage)
VDimm 2.8 or so should be fine

Multi - 11.5
RAM - 200
Timings - default

That should yield 2.3 GHz which a good place to start

Hi Cat3y3 and Welcome to the forums!

Before you start, have memtest86 and Prime95 installed on your PC. These are free proggies for the d/l that you will use to test your OC for stability.

If your ram is PC3200, likley you won't need Memtest86.

I also like Motherboard Monitor 5. It helps you keep an eye on temps and voltages.

I'd suggest increasing the FSB from 166Mhz to maybe 176mhz, then run Prime95 to see if its stable.

If not, increase your vcore (voltage to CPU) by a notch and try P95 again.

After you successfully get to 176, go up by increaments of 5mhz.

Keep going till the CPU's heat gets to high (I orefer to keep at 60c or below), or vcore increases don't help.

Good Luck with the OC
