Overclocking my TI-86...(update: I DID IT!!!)

I overclocked a TI-85 with the NPO capacitor. I got it from here. It took them like a month to send it to me though.

I can see this one coming in the near future:

Some idiot is gonna complain how "unfair" it is that some students have a faster calculator than others. One of these days, schools will have an enforcement that limits the power of calculators to a stricter set of regulations.

:) If they had the 'mad skillz yo' to modify theirs then they shouldnt whine about it lol. Then again if they DONT, too bad heh.

I still dont have any way of opening mine none of my tools work oh well (well except a drill bit :D). Its after midnight im sorta tired and i still have a paper to work on thats due tommorow.

now to get the .1 pf capacitor.....does anyone know if it is extremely SMALL??????...........do you still think i could get one if i ordered from that site mikesee ordered from...?

Overclocking also allows you to transfer files to it's 96kb of ram faster. LOL.
I want a nice do it yourself explanation of how to make the serial cable to connect to your calculator. $15 is a little steep and I've lost my old one.

OMG this is sooo funny, my friends laugh at me for playing games on my calculator now, wait until I tell them I overclocked it. :D

I overclocked my TI-85 back in the days when it first came out. I replaced that capacitor with a 0.1pF ceramic disc type and it worked like a charm. Speed was about 3 times faster but battery levels drained quicker.

ok well hmm, here is my update.

I have still yet to open it up. None of my stuff works but ive got a friend that hopefully doesnt forget to bring a T5 screw driver to class tommorow to see if it fits. If not well its pushed of to tuesday:frown:
