overclocking mobile 2400+

i'm building my friend a comp in a couple of days that will compose of mobile 2400+, abit nf7, 512md ddr pc3200 ocz ram, and radeon 9600, and a case with 430W psu. u think i will be able to get an oc of at least 2.3 at fsb = 200?
 
Actually, you should be able to get higher than that, if that 430 watt psu is an Antec TruePower 430. If it's a cheapie psu, you may have trouble being stable at 2.3ghz, but you should probably be able to "hit" it, anyway.
 
Not everyone is getting high stable overclock speeds, so you shouldn't start with the assumption that it WILL get to 2.3ghz.

Personally I would for sure expect 2.0ghz to be a stable low-temp speed for those CPUs.

I personally haven't heard of a mobile XP2400 yet that won't do 2.3ghz. The early ones are doing upwards of 2.5ghz, but the later ones are all getting to roughly 2.3ghz stable.
 
One site that did an article on them said you cant ussually guaruntee that processors will be good overclockers, but the mobile bartons seem to be one such processor where 9 times of out 10 you can.

I have. Not my CPU personally, but I was helping a guy via PM a while back who bought his from NewEgg and it wouldn't do much more than 2.1ghz. He ended up sending it back...
 
its not an antec psu, its some dyna*sumthing*. if i could at least hit 3200+, that'd be fine. otherwise, i'll be pissed.
 
If its a Barton core, then 2.2GHz should be easy at 1.65 - 1.70 volts.

I have three bartons at home, a desktop 2500+ that I got several months ago that runs at 2210 (210mhz FSB) completely stable.

I have a second desktop barton that I bought before I heard about the overclocking of the mobile parts, it will just barely do 2000 (200FSB) and I don't know how stable it is, its sitting on my book case right now.

I have a third which is a mobile 2500+. I haven't primed 95ed it yet, but it runs at 2.5GHz very nicely. I suspect I'll have to back off to 2.4 GHz to be Prime stable.

Will post when I get a chane to prime it.

After a few months of OC on my 2400, I had instability at 2.5g. (11.5 x 217)

I dropped the multi and FSB.

I'm now at 215.5 x 11 = 2370

Still alot of voltage, but P95 stable again.
