Ok, its my first time overclocking so i'm going to need some help... I'm planning ditching the stupid pink pad from AMD retail fan and switching to a better fan (for a T-bird 1.2 ghz) and applying some AS2/3 on it.

1) What's better? AS 2 or 3?
2) Which fan's good to use? I heard swiftech has a couple of good ones.
3) Anything i need to watch out for while applying AS to the core? I heard some people got short-circuited after applying it wrong....

thanks a lot :D

Any Arctic Silver works well get the cheapest. As for fans Delta's work well but they can be loud. Simple rule of thumb the faster the fan the louder it will most likely be. As for applying the compund just make sure you put a nice thin layer on it and keep it off anything that conducts electricity.

Just make sure you keep the as on the core. When you say fan you mean heat sink and fan right, if that is the case which I hope it is, you can look at different sites that have different reviews. Swiftech and alpha pal8045 seems to be the overall best with the alpha being quieter in most cases. Also watch out when puting the hs on the cpu, don't push down to hard on any side, and don't force the hs on it. I haven't seen it done but people have problems with chiping the core or breaking the socket mounts.

Btw what are some of the other specs of your system, power supply, case etc, not to be nosey... ok to be nosey.
