Ok to keep this simple, yet detailed, here goes:

I'm running:
AMD 3800+ X2 processor (stock 2ghz)
2GB of DDR 400 Memory
Asus A8N-E motherboard
GeForce XFX 6800GS XXX Edition 256MB DDR3 video
2x160GB Seagate HD's in Raid 0 (on SATA ports 3 and 4)

Now, I did the steps for OCing, first I turned down the memory and the multiplier in the BIOS, went to Windows and used ClockGen to find the max FSB. This froze at 285 so I assume 280 is safe.

Went back to Bios to change multiplier back up to test max CPU speed. Managed to get it in windows with ClockGen to 2500MHZ without errors in Prime95 (and heat around 47 degrees C).

Now, when I go into the BIOS, and try and raise the FSB it won't boot passed 220mhz, or even if I drop it to 333mhz (166) it still won't boot. Memory timing stock is 3-3-3-8. I increased voltage on DDR to 2.65 and can drop it to 2.5-3-3-8 but still doesn't book

The machine will post at these settings and by not booting I mean will not go passed the IRQ display screen. It just :(sits.

Any suggestions for someone who wants to get more potential out of his PC? :( Thanks!

Don't crank and pray.

Inch and win.

Go up slowly, a few mhz at a time. I used to try the method you're using too, except only in BIOS, and I always got better results going up slowly. True for Venice, Manchester, and Toledo. Never tried a C2D but I see lots of crank and pray going on. That's certainly ONE way to do it. No real surprise that they can't troubleshoot stability issues with any sort of competence, seeing how they got to their clockspeed in the first place.

I personally would never use clockgen for any serious overclocking.

Well right now in Windows I can get these results:

I dropped the mem clock to 166mhz and using clockgen and inching little at a time i am currently running 257mhz FSB and 210MHZ memory

Problem is these settings won't allow me to boot. Should I just set it once I get into Windows and not worry about the bios? That's my issue is booting. it will POST, but won't continue to boot.

430w. You think it could be power? Maybe I should try unplugging say my CD-ROM drives (2 DVD Writers). maybe that will help. I'll post results.

EDIT

I unplugged both hard drives and put in a memtest CD to boot from and still nothing. Still hangs at the screen that shows all fo the IRQ's, etc. I'm lost at this point. I have Multiplier set to 10, DDR Voltage at 1.65 (was 1.7 but i figured i can dose it down), CPU voltage at 1.375v.

What am I missing?
