(slight noob warning here)

Hi,

First post here, but I figure you experts around here might be able to give me a hand. I just built a new rig (not the one in my sig) but I've having a bit of trouble getting an OC out of it. Below are the specs:

Asus A8N-E, bios 1008
AMD 3500+ Venice Core
2GB of Samsung Original
Radeon x1800XL

Bios Settings

CPU Freq. 228
PCI Express Clock 100Mhz
DDR Voltage 2.70
CPU Multiplier x10
CPU Voltage 1.400

DRAM Configuration

Maxmemclock DDR333
1T/2T Timing 2T (yes, i know, bad...will fix it later if possible)
Mem Timings 3-4-4-8

Thats the main stuff, heres the problem.

I can get a max of 70mhz OC before it fails Prime95 with a rounding error (5-10 seconds into the test) Temps are good, never going over 35c under full load, and i made sure the RAM wasn't the issue either. Heres the funky thing, at least from my point of view, I've taken it up to 2400, and run CPUburn, aswell as an hour of Folding@home, with no problems, with identical temps. I have no idea whats going on, but I'm not entirely sure if i want to keep pushing the CPU if i cant run Prime95 for testing.

Any help would be awesome!

What is your memory divider? Do you have PC2700 memory? You probably need a lower memory divider so that the memory speed doesn't get too high when you overclock the FSB.
