Can do all day prime95 with 8K FFT but soon as I do higher which stresses the ram also it won't run for 5 mins..
520*7.5.. so ram is 1040, but my ram is Corsair PC8500 1066mhz..
Shouldn't it run at 1040 no prob?
Do i need more mch? more cpu volt? more ram volt?

ABIT IX38 X38 Chipset
E8400 @ 520x7.5 3901Mhz
1.3625v BIOS, 1.35 under load
MCH 1.50v, VTT 1.20v, DDR2 2.15v, ICH 1.15v
Corsair PC8500 Dominator Ram (1:1 520*2 1040mhz) 5-5-5-15 set
Ambient Temp ~27C
System Temp 30C
37C / 42C (To TjMax Load temps after 1hr+ of dual prime95)
PWM TEMPS ~53C
PWM MAX Current 47A

2 sticks or 4 sticks?

If 2 then I would say bump MCH and VTT, if 4 sticks bump ramvolts also

2 sticks, 1 gb each.. MCH is 1.55 and still dumping. How High can I go for MCH and VTT?
Have you messed around with E8400 before? This cpu reacts very strangely so far.

It won't even do 520*6 3.1ghz..
I really hope I don't have bad ram.. I just RMAd the last Corsair 8500 and got these..
I was running with some kingston crap ram that was 667mhz and I was running it at little over 400 fsb at 1:1 with no problems
Any idea?? I try mCH 1.55 and VTT 1.30 I really think that's pretty high for this cpu

Why are you pushing the FSB so high? Up the multi to 9x, and drop the FSB. If you want to run your ram at higher speed, use a higher mem ratio no need to run the FSB that high. And with other things equal, running a high FSB doesn't provide any tangible performance increase.

Your problem is not likely ram, CPU's have a FSB wall as well as motherboards and it's different for every chip and every motherboard. Anything @ or over 500mhz is lucky and usually takes pretty insane chipset voltage (MCH) and better than the standard cooling on the chipset. It is your chip or board thats giving out at 500mhz not your ram

Hrm, alright. I'll try more MCH voltage.. I have enough fans and it has a heat pipe cooler thing on the NB ..
I was just aiming for like 533 * 7 or 7.5 something.. Makes ram @ 1066 where it's supoosed to be.
I guess I get excited by seeing all these other 500+ fsb 4ghz+ but maybe that's just a handful of boards/processors will do that

I got mine to 4.0 ghz stable but see no reason to run it that high,i am happy running it at 3.8 and the ram at 800.

I know it's just that I like 500.. or 533 :) I saw someone with 1.77v MCH at 520 FSB.. That's.. seems like.. just a little too much doesn't it?
It goes up to 1.9 in the bios, and the default is 1.25. a 20% increase is 1.5. I'm not sure if I want to increase any voltages more than 20% over the recommended voltage without some evidence of others doing it for long periods without frying the board.
Right now I just put it at 445 * 8.5 and ram at 1.2, which is 445*2*1.20 1068mhz
I'm going to try and get to 466 but ram would be at 1118mhz , cpu 3960.. will see :> I'll try some other time for 500 * 8
