I updated the FSB from 266 Mhz to 290Mhz. I'm now at 2.610GHz with stock cooling..............and sitting at 58C. Is that a safe temp? What would be too high?

I would try to keep it under 60 at full load. That should be a good goal. 65 becomes the max for 24/7 that is tolerable on your processor.

Get rid of stock cooling! Also get some Artic Silver.

I have mine at 3.4 with a Big Typhoon at 1.4 vcore.

My temps are 57 under full load and 48-50 under normal use. I use Intel Thermal for my temp readings.

You could go to 333 * 9. A better heatsink such as the Tuniq Tower, Scythe Infinity or Big Typhoon.

From the pictures it don't look like I'll have too......

It is better that you do as then you can assure that there are no issues with interference from MOBO components... and also assure that the Retainers are expanded and locked into place...

Be very sparing if you use Arctic Silver .... as you don't want to pull a BoboCat... and load the socket with the stuff.... Poor Bobo.... I know that was expensive as hell... I think he toasted a 680i and an e6600...
