Overclocking Durons and Windows Problems

Ok, i have a 600 @ 1000. it runs stable at 1.85v but can't get it to go any higher. I've tried 10.5 and 11 multipliers, i've tried 9.5x110 (my chip did 6x110 ram even at 143). I haven't tried 10x101,102,103,104 but i assume them to be the same. The problem i get doesn't seem to be hardware related, the chip runs cool and posts and begins loading windows alright. When i get to the windows flash screen though, i get a "Windows Protection Error" or something along those lines and tells me to restart my machine. Is there a way around this? Is my voltage too high or is it simply windows saying "you can't get more than a gig, don't be greedy 🙂" Right now i'm running 1000 @ 1.8v to at least see if i can get that to be cooler (it's at 29c but that's not accurate). So far it's stable, and if it holds i'll try for 10.5 @ 1.8... any suggestions/comments or at least someone else who has this error msg? Thanks

simply windows saying "you can't get more than a gig, don't be greedy.

I've had that problem before, when I tried lowering the voltage to my Duron to 1.7V at 1Ghz. It'll only be stable at 1.75V. Bummer. (Even after long hours of RC5)

Plug out your other cards. Then set multiplier to 10x, max voltage. Then test all speeds starting from 102Mhz FSB.

that's too bad, i really thought i might have had a shot at 1.1 10x110, oh well... I'll take the voltage down and see if i can get higher that way, but i don't think i'll differ from you, jinsonxu. I'll let ya know though, thanks for the quick replies

LOL Techwhore, Duron chip is running 67% faster than what is stamped on it and you want more 😀

btw what motherboard are you using? I just ordered a Duron and need a Socket A board.

KBtrade, i've updated my sig to reflect my system you can check my stuff there. Yeah, i got 67% more and almost doubled the clock speed... but what kinda overclocker would i be if i said wow, i'll stay here... you need to get every last drop out! Besides, you have to consider that durons are equivalent to t-birds 100 mhz slower, so if i had gotten 1.1 outta my duron, i woulda had a 1ghz t-bird all for the VERY feasable price of 49 bux!!! 🙂 sigh, i guess i'll to accept 1000mhz, but like i said, i'm still trying!
