overclocking cpus with unlocked multipliers?

this has been something that has recently come to my mind, but does overclocking processors with unlocked multipliers (black editions, 2500k, etc) just mean that you increase the multiplier and the volts? is there anything else you need to worry about or any other factors that will affect the overclock?

Pretty much just gotta change the multiplier. Voltage may or may not need to be messed with depending on how much of an overclock is wanted/needed/tried for. Alot of times vcore can be left on auto but should be monitored as sometimes the MB will by default supply more than is need. Would be on a chip by chip basis tho and one would have to stress test and play around with voltages to make sure the overclock is stable with the auto settings or if setting the voltage thru bios.
