overclocking be6-II with P3 850

i've been trying to over clock my p3 in the Abit Soft Menu by setting my FSB at 100 and my multiplier at 10
with PCI CLock at 1/3 and AGP clock at 2/3 in addition to upping my cpu voltage from 1.65 to 1.9. BUt for some reason,
it still only posts at 850 and runs at 850.

Any suggestions or changes i'm missing in the BIOS? Thanks

The P3s have a locked multiplier, eg in your case 8.5. You cannot change it to 10, or anything else. You need to overclock via the FSB. Fortunately that board lets you go up in 1Mhz steps on the FSB which is basically 8.5Mhz extra clock speed each step...

You can only changed the FSB. and if you're going to overclock, you need to change your PCI ratio divider to 1/4 and AGP 2/3. Raise the FSB to 128 or 129 mhz to see if that will work first. If it's no problem, try 133. Hope you have descent cooling.

I have a BE6-II and a 700 slot one PIII, at 1.95vcore I Have had it running at 1127mhz and played Q3, it is stable if I can keep the heatsink temp below 61degf. Useing Tonicom pc-166 256mb ram 222. I have some 128mb pc-166 but it is not as good. Don't know what happaned to the Tonicom CO. WD 30gig 7200 H.D. FSB is 161 at 1127mhz. Completely stable at 1196mhz at any temp. within reason. The only thing that doesent work is usb which quits above 150fsb. Geforce2 pro video card. Great mob, if Powerleap ever comes out with the slot 1 to fcpga2 adapter I may try a Celeron 1.2gig.

i got it right now at 120 fsb x 8.5 = 1030 mhz. When i tried 128 fsb, it doesn't boot into windows at all.. My cpu voltage is at 1.75... but i heard not to go over 1.9 (not sure though). Would increasing it even more help me overclock more? What can i do to overclock further?

I have run a 566 cel at 1020 and a 700plll at 1.95v a lot without problem, need a good heatsink though. One good thing about Intel cpus is they just lock up if they get too hot rather than burn up like AMD cpus do. Maby 1.95v will reduce the life of the processor but I won't keep them long enought to matter. Never had one fail due to to much vcore. Have tried 2.00v but it did not do any better. 1.95v seems to be the sweet spot for oc fcpga processors.

Get a good Heat Sink Fan combo and you can get the FSB up to 133+. I had a P3700E Slot 1 running @
980 for a long time. Vcore was 1.85 and Temps were in the low 30's with a Alpha Twin Fan Cooler.
