Ok. This is only a 10% overclock, but since it's overclocking the FSB, instead of upping the multiplier, it should increase the performance above the 3400+, right? I have my 3200+ on my MSI K8T800 Neo to 220x10 or 2200mhz. Since the 3400+ is running at the same 2200mhz, but at 200x11, my 3200+ overclocked should perform better...or so I think.
When I overclocked my 2500+ Barton to 3200+ speeds, everything read it as a 3200+. But after having the Athlon 64 overclocked, nothing seems to recognize it as a 3400+. I'm guessing it's because it's not an exact FSBxMultiplier match?!? I think SiS Sandra says the performance rating is equal to a 3300+, which is surprising. I thought the performance rating would be higher than the 3400+, because of the higher FSB. Anyone else have any inputs on this subject of their Athlon 64's overclocked?
....One more thing. My MSI MoBo based on the Via chipset doesn't have the AGP lock that the other Athlon 64 boards have, but it doesn't seem to matter all that much. When I first tried overclocking with the default Bios, it wouldn't even boot past 207FSB, but I flashed the newer Bios...and it seems to be rock solid at 220. I'm throwing everything at it from Sandra Burn in, to Prime95. I read in many reviews that the built in memory controller seem to max out the RAM's early, but my Buffalo PC3200 seems to be cranking along just fine at 220FSB, although it's running at the default timings, which seem to be VERY conservative.
