overclocking AMD 7750

Does the 95-watt X2 7750 Black Edition need a motherboard with the 750 southbridge to get a decent overclock?

Can any AM2+ compatible motherboard that has good overclocking success with the Brisbane or Windsor get the job done?

My thinking is that if I can get 3.1GHz+ out of the 7750 with a Biostar MCP6P M2+ (only $45), it would be a sweet bang for the buck. This little motherboard is packed with all the overclocking features needed to push a Brisbane or Windsor to the max. It says it supports Phenom X4, but I'm sure that's probably Agena and not Deneb.

Well its on the CPU support list for BIOSTAR check their website listed below. I know you will get a better OC on an AMD SB 750 board vs the Nvidia 6150 (thats a value chipset its not aimed at high OCing). But as far as value for your money its a good option.

I was able to overclock a 4000+ and a BE2350 to 3GHz on that motherboard, but I know the higher wattage Agena cores only break the 3GHz barrier with the AMD SB 750.

Not true. Nvidia 8200-based motherboards will also allow Phenoms to go well beyond 3 Ghz.
