Overclocking a64...

I have read that when you OC, you should disable c&c from bios. Can you turn it back on, when you have done the actual overclocking, or does it have some negative effects on a overclocked system?

c&c reduces your clock speed when windows decides the extra speed isn't needed, which kinda defeats the purpose of overclocking.

I know that. But who needs clockspeed and the generated extra heat when the computer is idle? I assume it wouldn't have an effect when you are on heavy load?

If you change your Multiplier, c&c is bad. c&c doesnt change your FSB but your multiplier and when it fires back up, it'll set your multi to the default and not the one you set.

also, I'm not sure but I think it puts your voltage down and then when it's done it sets it at default again

if you use default multi and voltage, maybe it's ok but most overclockers up the voltage

Thanks. That was the sort of answer I was looking for. I think it will effect my cpu choise for my next upgrade.
