overclocking a P4 3.0C

i was able to oc my 3.0c to 3.6ghz with a fsb of 240
however, i can't seem to get it to boot into windows with a fsb of 250(even tried 4:3 ratio and increasing vcore to 1.6800)
everytime i tried...either a blue error screen came out or it says some .sys file was corrupt
any suggestion? have i reached the limit of my cpu?
i'm currently running on a 5:4 ratio

Just because, you are running 4:5, don't expect the memory to operate as if it was clocked at 4/5 ration in 1:1 mode. I don't know if that sentence makes any sense!

If I were you, I would start by running memtest at the lowest FSB that you have experienced problem.
If I got errors, I would increase memory voltage only by one step (in the bios) and run memtest again. I would do this and gradually increase the voltage and FSB until there was n more improvement. Then, I would be sure that it was the CPU that was limiting.

Then, I would try running prime95 and increase Vcore, again one step only until I couls pass prime95 for several hours.
When you are searching for the CPU max, don't increase VCore in a big jump. There is an optimum point. When you find that point, going higher or lower will reduce your speed. So, only change VCore one step at a a time. And change FSB only in small steps.

Every time you increase FSB, you need to make sure that your memory is not limiting.

If you have done all of that, then, I think you have found the CPU limit.

No it doesn't, but the rest of the post was OK ;)

If it tried 4:3 to the ram, I would put problems with it aside for sure...
My 3.0c does almost 250 with stock voltage, but after that, for every 2mhz in fsb upped, it has to get more juice on the vcore...

Maybe cpu is next to the limite.
