I got A K7D-Master L Dual chip Mobo runnin 2 Mp 2400s and I can adjust the fSB and got it to max out at 146mhz. the mp's are locked at a multiplier of 15 but my board only supports mults up to 12.5 with the chips unlocked. is there anyway to increase the multiplier in the bios.

Yes, set the multiplier to 8x less than what you want. It will work. I promise.

Example: 16x - set BIOS to 8x.

Well I tried it, but when the computer restarts after the bios adjustment it won't post. It just has a blank screen. Does it mean I have to physically unlock my chips or is it just a bios setting? I am positive the 2400 MPs Tbread-b can handle a 16x multiplier, or even an 8x for that matter.
By the way it isn't a heat issue either, got 2 mcx462-u HSFs with tornadoes on them.

You didn't do enough research. :) 16x multiplier on the Athlon remaps to 22x, or something like that. Try setting 7.5x.

Athlon tech info has some great information on the Tbred multipliers, including all known multiplier remaps.

Remember, the remaps would apply to the total multiplier, not just what you're setting. It sounds simple, but I've panicked once or twice from screwing up and not remembering exactly what multiplier I was setting. :)

EDIT: And no, you don't have to unlock anything. DON'T!!! Tbred's are unlocked from the factory. Some ignorant fool may tell you to cut the fifth L3 bridge, but resist the temptation. That will force you to use mutlipliers less than 13x, and not unlock anything at all.

ok, I tried setting the multiplier on every setting possible. from 5x all the to 12.5x and stiil the same thing happens. I save and restart but the screen stays blank. oh and I also set the fsb back to 133 when I did this to make sure it was the only thing hindering my efforts. Got Any More ideas?

I wouldn't. Yet.

I've exhausted all of my ideas. I'm not familiar with how the multiplier controls work on the K7D. I control the mults on my A7M266-D using a pair of golden sockets.

I would cross my fingers and hope that someone more knowledgable comes along. I would also register at 2cpu forums and post the same question in their Motherboards section, as there are a lot of K7D users there.

One more question: do you have the latest BIOS? I know that some people have had problems with the K7D and high speed procs. This is the latest BIOS 'in the wild', 1.7b3. There have been some reports of bad flashes, but as I understand it, if you do get a bad flash, don't reboot and just try to flash again. Should work second time around.

Let me reiterate that. If you do have a bad flash, do not reboot. As long as the computer is up, you can keep attempting to reflash, but once you reboot you must attempt more drastic measures. This is good advice in general, not just in reference to the K7D.

Hope this helps!!
