I flashed the newest bios version (ss) and it only allows 1.7 volts max, this will
allow my system to boot but it hangs at the Windows logo. What must I do to allow a
higher voltage in the bios.

unclock the cpu and go back into the bios and see what the voltages are.I'm sure my bh6 has more than 1.7 listed. The bios follows the cpu default in the bh6(a 266 p2 would be 2.0)

set it back to 566, set core vcc to user define max 1.7v, save and exit.
now flash bios again, after you should see in bios cpu default vcc is @1.7v, use user define to see if you can get a higher vcc.
bh6 c633@950, 1.9v. taisol hsf.upgraded today. c566@850 also 1.9v.

fastvideo.....I tried your method but it did not work.My slocket has jumpers on it to set
voltage up to 2.0 volts but I've been told that the Abit motherboard bios will override it.

step1: set your bios setting to default - remember the cpu speed too.
step2 : set voltage to user defined, set to highest available setting.
step3: save settings and restart.

insert the ss bios disk.
now the computer will start from the floppy.
1: type awdflash and flash program starts.
2: type in the name of the .bin file (bh6_ss.bin)
3: the flash program will ask you if you want to save the old bios - answer yes!
4: save the old bios to floppy with any name you like . press enter.
5: after the flash program has saved the old bios it will ask you if you want to program the bios - answer no.
6: the flash program will now terminate and return to your floppy drive.

now you are ready to trick your bios voltage settings!
7: the trick is not to start the flash program as you did previously .
8: type exactly as follows for the bh6ss bios : awdflash.exe bh6_ss.bin /py /sn /cc
9: press enter and later f10 to exit program.
10: restart and go into bios setting - now you will see the higher voltage is now the default.

Sorry, you're ahead of me. I'm still using my "old stuff". I saw another thread on this so I'm sure you're in good hands.

Thanks faaaaaaaaaaaassstvideo

Great tip, it worked flawlessly. By the way... for people that have managed to get their Celeron 566's running.. what voltage did you guys all have to use? I am using 1.75 right now.. and standing at 42 degrees.

All, what fans are ya'll using guys? I too have a 566 w/BH6 but o/cing to only 637 using retail fan. I want to get to 850 as well and planning to get an Alpha PEP66 (w/23.2 CFM fan -- i heard 38 CFM are TOO LOUD) or a GlobalWin FOP32 fan. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

my fan is a golden orb

I just got my 566 to 850 last night on 1.5(I probably should up the voltage right?)

I shot for 950 @ 1.7 but I think it needs a little more juice. Goes into windows but tends to crash things.

I'm gonna use the voltage trick to get 950 hopefully.
Whats a good max voltage for a 566@950?

Hmmm.. maybe i'll up my FSB to try to hit 950... 1.85V Nick Stone? I guess i'll try that.. wonder if it'll fly with a stock HS/Fan.. hehe... worth a try I guess!

Celeron II 566 @ 850 @ 1.65 volt. Seems stable at 1.6 but I had just one crash so I gave it 0.5 more.

Don't think you will get 952mhz with a retail HS/fan. Most CPUs won't regardless. I have MS6905 slocket, Alpha Pep66 HS/fan, Circuit Works Silver thermal coumpound and a little luck. Read Anand's H/S cooling article and it should convince you to throw away the retail H/S and fan the 1st chance you get.

update on me.

after using the voltage trick I am now running my 566 @ 950 with 1.75V.

I love this chip and luckily my pc100 ram is holding up.

I just found out that if i take my c600(1.8v successfully)with 900 out and put in my old Klamath slot 1, then change it back to c600, and i have to flash my BIOS one more time to get the 1.80 v back
