I recently read Anand's article on overclocking the 4200+ X2, and tried the same thing myself. However, when I ran the CS:S video stress, I got lower framerates, and loading time was noticeably slower. The speed here was at 2.4GHz rather than the stock 2.2GHz, with no voltage modifications or anything else like that.
When using the Fatal1ty OC Guru, there's 3 built in settings (Turbo, Normal, Quiet). Now you'd think that Turbo would be a stable overclock, Normal would be stock, and Quiet would be an underclock, but no--they're all HIGHER than the stock speed, with higher voltages. When running in Default (stock) mode, the system is louder (no auto fan tuning) but faster. Turbo mode is much slower than stock as far as games go. I'd try to modify the T, N, and Q speed, but they are, stupidly, locked. You can't change them, even though they're wrong for my processor.
My reason for posting is this: first, the Fatal1ty OC Guru sucks. Secondly, and most importantly, my X2 is SLOWER when overclocked (and properly I might add) than it is stock, which makes no sense at all! Why is it slower OCed?
