Hi, i am new to overclocking and just built my first pc system :)

AMD 3700+SD
gigabyte k8nsc-939
1gig ram (generic)
gigabyte 6600GT agp8x
80gig hdd

well i have tried putting the voltage up to 1.55 but i cant get my cpu to 2.5ghz fsb - 228mhz, i currently have it on 227 with 1.45v but when i try to go that bit extra i get BSOD, surely this cant be the max cpu? as ive heard lots of ppl geting 2.7ghz on stock fan :
or is it just my mobo
plz help me on what to do

Thnx in advance, ill write down some more specific stuff if need to, i think my ram timings are 2.5-3-3-8
and my cpu runs @ 27-30 degrees and 40degrees under full load

ok some more info.
my HT Frequency ratio is at 4x, and can go to 5x
K8 CPU Clock ratio : on Auto - goes to 11x, but i think its on 11x anyway
CPU clock 226, for soem reason it started BSOD on 227 again -__-
CPU Vcore 1.450v
CPU / DDR clock ratio 2/2
all other options are on default value, should i set them to manual except leave them on default?, because before i started i tried to increase by 5mhz but it wouldnt let me because 'best performance' wasnt enabled or soemthing :\ but once i did that it let me oc a bit more, but now im stuck at just under 2.5ghz
plz help, as im sure this cant b the max oc.. or did i get a dud? >.<

Thnx in advance

Ohh and also in sysTools, i put it to get the max cpu test, and it kept going up and up with ok's but i stopped it, it wasnt crashing then, so why is it crashing on startup?

lower the LDT multiplier to 3, relax the memory timing, then use a memory divider...

then try to increase the HTT from stock by 5-10mhz increments, once you can get into windows, run Prime95 for a few minutes, if no crashes, then increase the HTT until you get into instability problems. After that up the voltage a bit, and repeat the same step to find out the max frequency of the CPU.

once you find out what your CPU is capable of, play around with the memory timings and memory divider

what do i set it at to get 333.. because on my timings itried to set the 2.5 to 3 so its 3-3-3-8 but it wouldnt boot :|
thnx for help
and sry for being pain in the ass

You're confusing frequency with timings. THere should be an option for DRAM Frequency, or something similar, that is currently set to DDR400 or 200 Mhz (same thing); change it to DDR333 or 166 Mhz.
