Overclocked PC Stability Testing Software

I were using one program once, its description said professionsla use it to test new pc's stability they run it for week etc, it was small application but had many tests, now cant remember its name, can someone gime list of top 5 stability tests so i maybe check them all and find that prog?

I mean tests that can run for amount of time you specify e.g. 6 hours or 6 days.

For example PC Mark 2005.

Dunno about all that, but prime95 v25 is a good one for quad core machine. Basically you enable "Round Off Checking" and let it go. If there are stability issues that don't crash the machine, it will fail the rounding and error out informing you of the error. Orthos is another one that will do the same thing (based on the same code).

IMHO, Orthos (double prime for dual core) is more than sufficient.

The errors will show up after only a few minutes in a system that is unstable.

And use "good ole" Memtest to test your memory, the latest version for the dual core, too.

Check your performance with PCMark05 and 3DMark06.

If your system is unstable, trust me, you'll know after that...

Orthos. 100% load on both cores 100% of the time; although I understand superpi is still a good alternative to memtest for ram testing.

Run the newest version of orthos. It is the same test as prime95 and has a very simple GUI to use and it will test both cores on your CPU without you having to manually set the affinity. Make sure you can pass for 24+ hours to ensure full stability!

what does it mean when the error code comes while your running SP2004

OC is not stable or something?

i can do everything i want with me but i never ran a test until recently
The test wont even run for 2-3 mins

Actually, the latest version of Prime95 tests multiple cores by default, so there's no need to run multiple instances and set their CPU affinity. I don't know why people still use the older version; it's a real pain.

Oh thats pretty cool. I didnt know that! I just set the affinity for years and finally just got sic of it and went to orthos thx for the info. lol

I read about some of the changes to the code that they did for the newest Prime95 version - I'm not sure it is as trustable as a stress-test program yet as the old one. Time will tell.

well, running a Q6600, i have problems trying to set the affinity of two instances of Orthos to run on all 4 cores.
