Overclocked CPU temperature

Hi!

I have a Celeron II 600 overclocked to 750... I'm wondering what a normal temperature would be for an overclocked Intel CPU. The max temperature I saw mine hit was about 56ºC/132ºF. Is this ok, or should I consider buying a better cooler?

If your using a generic Socket 370/FC-PGA cooler or the Intel Retail fan, I suggest you purchase something with more superior cooling when you overclock. Are you using any thermal compound?

i read somewhere that anything under 90 should be fine. i myself am running a C600 @ 900. but i am using abit bh6 and so i cannot monitor my cpu temp. i am using the standard cpu fan that came in the retail box and so far have not met with any problems. so my guess is the normal cooler should be enough. you have other fans in your casing as well right?

This seems a bit high. With retail heatsink/fan, my P3700@933 got to about 53C under stress. With CoolerMaster, it dropped to about 46C under stress. It's about 25C at Idle.

I am using thermal paste... however I got the feeling the cooler isn't sitting very well on top of the core (if I push it slightly on one of the sides it moves). Is a golden orb a good heat sink for use with FC-PGA CPUs?

I just managed to solve the problem... the stupid heatsink clip makes a lot more of strength on one of the sides, so the heatsink was not making full contact on one of the sides of the core. I believe the reason it was even working is that I used some thermal paste.

The CPU is now working at a top of 40ºC...

I've got a P3-700E @ 1085MHz with a GORB. Temperature runs around 37ºC under normal load (like during 3DSmax rendering or game of CounterStrike)
