Overclocked 980ti still faster than overclocked 1070?

It was my understanding that generally, an overclocked 980ti was faster than an overclocked 1070 at their most common overclocked frequencies. Is this still the case after several driver updates since the launch of the 1070?

I have a 980Ti and I have actually tested it against a 1070. The performance gains of an OCd 980TI to an OCd 1070 are marginal, at best. It has been a while since I tested this, but the OC performance of a 1070 is about 1-3% better than a 980Ti OCd. Moral of the story, if you plan on upgrading your GPU and want a serious performance increase, go with a 1080 or 1080Ti. And if you're really feeling up there, go for the Titan X..P? p. Watever the Pascal one is. I, for one, really enjoy my 980Ti and it still powers through all the games I play, and is even good for other things! (DC)

The 980Ti Kingpin tier cards (the ones that can OC to around 1.6GHz or more) are out of reach performance wise to the 1070, yes.

Maxwell and pascal have same architecture.980TI at 1500/8000 was faster than any GTX1070 and will be always like that.
OC:
980TI at 1500Mhz=8.6Tflops
GTX1070 at 2100Mhz=8Tflops

Stock reference 1070 is faster
980TI at 1050Mhz=6Tflops
GTX1070 at 1850Mhz=7.1Tflops

Pascal has a few small enhancements related to DX12 so I would expect 1070 to beat 980 Ti more regularly in DX12 games

Yeah, a heavily OC'ed 980Ti will beat a heavily OC'ed 1070, the 1070 is cut down too much, it should have been the upcoming 1070Ti.
