Overclockable AMD CPU's

Which is more oc'able from AMD, t-bird, or straight athlon? I am looking to get a 1ghz+ CPU, and want to know if i cna push these chips any further, anyone have any experience with these? If i get a 1.2 ghz T-bird, can i get more out of it than an Athlon 1ghz? Where duz the Duron fit into all this, i know its lower Mhz.

If you want to OC, you would not only get farther with a Tbird (compared to classic Athlon), but it would also be easier. All that needs to be done is connect the L1 bridges atop the CPU. If you want to hit 1G+, I'd go with a Tbird 900 or something like that, since those typically have the copper connects which are used in the 1G+ CPUs.

As for the Duron, these are OC gems. The current 600s can typically reach 900+, though someofthe earlier batches were not as good (like mine). They are also ridiculouly cheap. $40 for a CPU that can reach 900+ ain'tbad at all. It is also only slightly slower than the TBird at the same clock.
 
True. And if you get a 1.2G, you can'treally push it that much farther. Why? The highest multiplier is 12.5. You can still up the FSB, but that is not very effective with the KT133 chipset.

If u want it to be higher, just use ur spiritual power, like the pray thing

I am also being tempted to get rid of my PIII-700@933 & Abit SE6 and get T-bird & KT133. So far, it seems that copper T-birds have a good chance of getting 1.1G - 1.2G or even more while alum. T-birds get 950Mhz - 1050Mhz.

The key is up to what T-birds get copper for sure as I do not want to order one and it turns out to be alum, and it seems like most, if not all, 1G+ T-birds get copper. An the chances go down as the speed decreases.

I perfer buying retail chips over OEM, but it seems that 950mhz is the highest you can get in retail package. Buy.com, Onvia, and others list retail 1Ghz but they are all out of stock.

If I did go for it, I would not get 1.1Ghz or 1.2Ghz but probably get 1Ghz unless chances of getting copper are as good with 900Mhz or 950Mhz.

If any one knew more about what % of what speeds get copper, I would be very much interested in knowing.
 
Classic Athlons reach a Cache divider barrier around 850 to 900 mhz (When O/C). Might have to use a software program to alter/adjust or solder the cache.
