Overclock OEM P4

i have an HP P4 2.6Ghz processor on the stock Asus Mobo. i would like to know if anyone has ever been able to overclock their cpu if it is an OEM version.

Is that the 2.6A or 2.6C? I believe the 2.6C is better overclocker, but im not sure.

The OEM and retail versions are the same other than that one comes in an intel box.

here is the product specs for the comp that i kind of gutted in putting my "new" and improved one together HP Pavillion a250n and here are the mobo specs ASUS Mobo. How do i tell if it is an "a" or a "c"??

What FSB speed is your CPU running at? If it is 200MHz (aka 800MHz), then it is a C. If it is 133MHz (aka 533MHz), then you have a B or A.

Regardless, I think you want to know how to overclock, not the overclocking potential of your CPU.

Your motherboard essentially has all of its overclocking abilities stripped because it is an OEM board. You can try using clockgen (google it), but I wouldn't reccomend going too far as your PCI bus will get out of spec and there is the potential to lose data on your HD. Also, it's possible that clockgen may not work for your mobo. I'm not sure which version you would need. You may have to do trial and error to find the correct version.

my cpu is a 800mHz model, i will try tonight to use clockgen.

yeah dude that's an hp, there definitely aren't overclocking features in the bios.
