I had to underclock my T-Bird 1200--->700.
Why?
The temps were too high(52C) and stalled when I ran a cpu intensive game.
Now the temps is (41C).

I use an alpha 6035 with a decent Sunon fan. This HS is better than the stock HS...how canppl run the T-Bird 1.2+ with the stock HS/F!?

:(

u underclocked it 500mhz and that doesn't bother u....

did u add thermal paste properly and attach the HSF properly?
do u have proper case cooling (at least one exhaust behind the cpu)?

i'd suggest either 1) a better fan, 2) a better HSF combo

Ugh, that's terrible! You should be able to run at stock (and above) speeds with that HSF no problem! Something is definately wrong.

I've got the same sink as you (PAL6035) but with the fan from a VolcanoII. I've got a Tbird 1.333 (not OC'd) and it runs at approx. 30C idle and 43C load.

Do what nortexoid said. Make sure you've got some thermal past correctly applied and check to make sure the HSF is making good contact and seated correctly. Also, make sure you have good case cooling. Have you tried opening the case and using a normal floor fan on it just to check the temps?

By the way what is the brand of the mobo? If it is asus which tends to read 8 degrees higher due to different location of the temp guage, they would look very good for a 1.2 tbird...

It could be many issues other than heat...
