Overclock just disapeared?

System is in my sig. Been running fine on 3.2 for months, no issues. Today I noticed that it's back down to stock speeds. Unfortunately it's been so long I can't remember what settings I had.

Any way to tell what could have happened?

No, but it does remind me of something.

I had a windows vista IE7 update earlier today. When I rebooted the machine did something weird.

I heard the fans ramp down and then up again liek usual but then they went down again. Did this maybe 2 times and I just held in the power button to completely power it off. Turned it back on and it booted fine.

I guess those updates can be uninstalled but it seems weird an IE7 update owuld mess up my speed, right?

It's a very common problem with the Gigabyte P35-based motherboards. Maybe other chipsets are effected, I don't know. Poke at your CLR_CMOS jumper to reset BIOS and dial your settings back in.

That's waht I was hoping to do but I cannot remember the settings 😱

It's been this way for a long time. I got the board not long after it was released. I remember finding some settings online (not sure if it was at these forums) and I set mine up the same way. Haven't had to touch a thing.

Had this problem with the P35 board also, but only 1 time. You are just going to have to re-do your overclocks. In the Bios, you can save your settings. May want to start doing that just in case this happens again...

And don't go by online settings. You are going to have to set them to what your hardware can dish out. Just because you looked at specs online doesn't mean Your system will handle it. Every system reacts differently. The "online" specs you refer to is for referance only. 😉

thanks for the info. Can you tell me exactly where I can save setting sin the BIOS? MAybe I am pverlooking it. I know it won't help me know but it may help down the line.


And I know what you mean about each system reacts differently. I was just saying that I found a thread online of a guy that had the exact same mobo/ram/cpu so I went by what he used and everything worked perfectly for a year or more.

Yes, If you would use "F11" you can save your settings. If you were to use "F12", that will load your saved settings. Also a little hint with the P35 boards, When you first get into the bios and see the "main" screen, Hit "ctrl F1" and it will add memory timings and voltage settings that are not normally seen in the "MIT" area. Just remember, to see them again in bios upon reboot, you would have to use "ctrl F1" again. 🙂

I was overclocking my E7200 last night and as a "feature" of my GA-EP45-DS3L it would revert stock settings if it failed to boot because of hardware/overclocking settings failure.

It prevented me from having to reset the CMOS which was nice, but for me anyway, it saved the settings the next time I went into the overclocking settings.
