I am a newbie at overclocking and I need some help. I have been trying to overclock my Duron 700. I have an MSI K7T pro2-a and I'm using windows 98 SE. I have tried overclocking the FSB using Fuzzy Logic 3, and the highest I can get without freezing is 110 MHZ without freezing. I have tried to adjust the clock multiplier to 7.5 in the BIOS but it seems as if it does nothing, and my monitor does weird things when I try this, like it turns off when I restart and doesn't come back on until I completely power down my computer. Is this because my chip is locked still? I have heard that overclocking the FSB is limited by the capacity of your RAM to overclock, and I do have some "generic" ram. Is this why there is a "cap" on my overclockability? My cpu temp is ~33degrees celsius@762 mhz. My question is, how exactly should I overclock my cpu, because I hope that the FSB@110 mhz isn't the max, because my CPU speed at that level is only 762 from 700, and I'm sure I can push more than that. Please PM me or reply to this message with some guidance, and thank you.

You will need to unlock the CPU to change the multiplier, otherwise you'll end up with exactly what you're seeing. KT133 boards don't fare too well with FSB only overclocking, they typically top out around 110 - 115 MHz.

Unlock the CPU with a pencil, push the CPU by multiplier until you can't go any further, back it down 1/2 step, & then worry about FSB overclocking.

Yes, do some research on Unlocking your processor. You will have much greater success.

What heatsink do you have?

You may want to see if there is an updated bios for your mobo, too.
