My CPU temp runs over 70c when playing games like serious sam. Is that too hot? I haven't noticed any lockups or anything like that. I have a 900 MHz CPU, and a K7T MSI Turbo Motherboard.
 
I'd say thats way to hot there man.. you should be maxed no higher than 50 something, 60c is usually the danger point. what HSF are you using? and what kind of case cooling do you have? what voltage settings are you using? you better check these things.
 
My fan runs at about 5700 RPM, not sure about the HS. When idle, the temp is about 64c. Can I even trust the readings?
 
Touch the HSF, if it feels cool check to make sure that the CPU is making good contact, there is themal paste, it's not on backwards, and stuff like that.
