Over 10 years already since I got a 1GHz Tbird from Compuwiz1...

I'm not sure what your context is here, but iamwiz82 and compuwiz1 aren't the same people

Also, I joined AT shortly after that conversation took place because I was having issues getting my KT7A-RAID Mobo working properly and found out the CPU fan plugs were switched and it wouldn't boot because it registered no CPU fan hooked up. Good times!

ahh.. so what happened to compuwiz then?
i havent seen him post in a while

I remember when the MSI KT7 Pro 2A came out and how it was theee hot MB and how hard it was to get one. Red Dawn had a whole big thread about it when it came out and he got one. Crazy fast with my Tbird 1.4 Mhz(?), haw, haw, haw. I still have both I think but they are in boxes.

Still using my T-bird 1Ghz and KT7A-Raid. It chugs along as my file server, put a couple SATA Raid cards in it a few years ago and now up to 5TB.

I really need to upgrade it one of these days but I just can't pull the plug on it.

I got my 1.6GHz Duron over 2.1GHz... I thought it was the fastest thing in the world at the time. It was coupled with a GeForce Ti4200 @ 275MHz on the core and 64MB of DDR. Those were good times... 🙂 Maybe I'll play through Divine Divinty again just for the hell of it.

I had mine overclocked to 504 (112 Mhz) stable with only bumping the voltage a bit and a couple of extra case fans 😀

I believe I ended up taking it down a notch to 496 (110 Mhz), which is stable with stock voltage, and gave the computer to my mom. She used it for about 3-4 years until it finally died.

Nice ....
my 300 wouldn't even post at 504 with my BH6 initially. BH6 had 66, 75, 83, 100, 112, 125, and 133mhz FSB options, and it had a "turbo" option which added 3mhz to FSB.....

So, I ran at 100mhz with turbo and got 464mhz....
After a couple of years, I was able to push it to 504, but it wasn't stable, even with overvolting... so I ran 464 until eventually picking up a "celermine" 533.... sucker ran 896 at stock voltage!

I have an intel i486 DX2 66 mhz circa 1989 here from the first machine I ever owned.

I always keep the cpus out of all my old machines for the memories.

I still use the first machine I ever built - it was my primary rig when I joined. A K6-2+ at 450mhz on a Soyo board with a Voodoo 3 video card. Still runs really nicely.

I had a dual P2-400 in a supermicro P6DBU. One of the P2's was unlocked. Made for some interesting overclocks (one ran at 450 the other at 400). I did get the bus up to 112 for a while but the onboard scsi adapter didn't like it.

Same exact setup as me. I ran that @464Mhz with a #9 128 2D graphics + Diamond Monster3D add-in for years. I forget the soundcard.

My 0.9Ghz Thunderbird served me well for almost 10 years. Can't believe I waited that long to upgrade.

900mhz TBird -> Core2Duo Quad 3.0Ghz

And ya, my phone is more powerful than my old TBird (well maybe not quite when you figure in the Radeon 9600Pro 256MB)... technology is amazing.

Compared to the Packard Bell I bought in '96, my Droid has:

10x the CPU speed
8x the memory
16x the storage

I still have bins full of old computer junk (including the above-mentioned Slot-A's). I should either have a garage sale or open a museum.

I still have my whole machine, and it even works; well it would if I put the HD in anyway. It was my first IBM compatible. A 486DX50. My first computer was an Atari :^)

My parents still use my old Thunderbird 1.2ghz. It's actually okay for basic web browsing and word processing. The only thing I really notice is that it's choppy when playing Youtube videos. Also I think it loads Firefox faster than my rig, which I don't see how is possible.
