The Air Force has the best soldier/pilot kill ratio
The Army has the most kills & casualties of all time
The Marines has the most kills on direct encounters
The Navy has the most kills via STDs

Not really.

More people were killed in the fire bombing of Tokyo than in either of the atomic bombs.

Sure they the potential to kill more people, but they are unlikely to ever be used for that purpose.

WTF does the Navy do besides chill on a boat?

Launch bomb laden planes from carrier decks and fire off a tomahawk missile every now and then.

Do the Navy personnel get the same basic training?

They have this little group called SEALS out there.

I think you missed his point.

Straight up, one shot deals the atomic/nukes are the winners.

Carpet bombing and the like are great body counts over time.

Yes, but most people in the Navy never go to, let alone finish, the SEAL training program. As for his question, all of the branches have different flavors of basic training, but the idea is pretty much the same across the board. I believe the USAF only has one or two days of rifle training.

They're more concerned that you have a 20" waist. :p

if you want to nuke the most people, you need to be the chief of the Fire Control Technicians on a Trident submarine, he gets to pull the trigger to launch the nuclear missiles, Trident's carry 24 missiles that can be MIRV'ed up to 10-12 warheads, so if the sub does a full launch of all missiles, you'll get to wipe out up to 240+ targets inside of 15 minutes or so, your potential body count could be several millions within an hour of you pulling that trigger 24 times

but of course you only get to launch on order of POTUS , so he would have the ultimate body count, the US has 12-14 Trident submarines, so multiply the above number by that for the POTUS body count

but it is easier to be a Fire Control Technician than POTUS

The Marines are a much, much smaller organization. The Marines have 203,000 + 40K reserve, the Army has 1,097,050(2008). The Army is actually bigger than the 4 other branches combined (Air Force, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard).

Besides, the Army and Marines have different doctrines. The Marines are overall, a faster response force, but when it gets down and dirty, they need the Army for the heavier firepower that the Marines lack. You can easily tell that a Cobra, while small and easy to deploy, wouldn't hold up to heavy duty work under all conditions as well as an Apache.

Marines get much less funding (They cost about $20k less per marine than the cost of another service's member), because they have to get money from the Navy.

In the end, the Marines can do the hybrid role very well, but aren't necessarily the best at each individual thing which is why the Army's kill count will always surpass the Marines.

Made up numbers are fun!

As was stated earlier, USAF was part of the Army until 1947. Recalculate that in your tiny brain and get back to us.

I mean people that fly planes to do the killing. I don't give a shit what they're called or when they started calling themselves that.

For sheer numbers of dead people, the USAF/USAC wins. Big bombs kill large numbers of people.

HOWEVER, the USMC get the privilege of taking them out one or two at a time...often "face to face."

IMO, that trumps the bombing of "faceless enemies" that often can't even be seen...it just seems too...impersonal.

Ask the Japanese.

Good point. Throughout history, who would you guys say took the most people out? From WWI to Present?

Not really trying to troll or anything, just genuine interest for once.

since the air force didn't exist in WWII , it was part of the Army, you have to give the Army "credit" for the nukes used on Japan and the fire bombing of Tokyo and all the bombs dropped on Germany, so overall, I think for US forces, the Army has the current highest death count

now if you go global, it would probably be the German army, since they killed something like 8-10 millions Russians in WWII alone

Submarines, Battleships, aircraft carriers and seaplanes with bombing capabilities made plenty of people cry.

I agree Army has most likely killed the most though.

Uhh, a variety of people have been "flying planes" including the Navy, Marines, and Army/Army Air Corps.

Afghanistan is most likely the Air Force.

The USMC has probably the tightest co-ordination of air support-ground force clean up in the U.S. military.

They have fixed and rotor-wing attack aircraft, as well as air superiority aircraft such as the F-18 Hornet.

But the qualifications to become FCT are harder to come by that what's required to become POTUS. Weird, eh?

But the Army brings in the chow and toilet paper. The USMC cant even sustain itself in either theater. It's too bad that they can't break from the Navy.

That is also very true. However, I think the Marines for the most part are quite content to consider themselves "the men's department of the Navy." :p
