Obama gets a second term and Republicans become outraged about a program launched in 2004 and a website launched in 2007. The 2004 program does sound crazy, but it's an 8 year old agreement with another nation. I'd be very surprised if anything is done about it, ever. The website just seems like a brain dump of everything an immigrant might want to know.

I'm not bothered by the Bush-era website. I am annoyed by the Bush-era pact to hand out welfare info in another country.

Does Cal check the legality status?
Do they enforce?

That is much of the problem with the illegals; the government entities responsible for the law do not uphold the law. Federal and State

I can't speak for CA, but in Oregon an illegal isn't going to get benefits unless they steal someone's identity and/or the eligibility worker is really really bad at their job. They can and do get health benefits for their US born children though.

From what I hear the bulk of the fraud is by homegrown red-blooded Americans who either:
* Mom and dad live in the same home, but on paper they don't so mom has $0 in resources and qualifies for the gamut of state assistance. Dad either works or has his own separate assistance cases.

* Business owners who either outright hide their business or under report their net to get under poverty levels.

This is just an example of social/economic "justice" -Marxism in other words. Would expect nothing less from Obama -obviously being a communist himself. Shame on anyone still in the dark on that one.

I have a very big problem with it. You shouldn't even be allowed into the country if you're not going to be a producer and are a taker. Most countries are like that. They didn't pay for any of it, so they shouldn't receive any of it. If you start them off with all this free shit, they'll never get off of it like most recipients...they'll lose any motivation to actually work.

Oh I get that. We already require work Visa's and sponsors for the truly talented foreign workers that want to come here... There is qualification in that.

But I do get the need to support a new resident if their job they came here for falls out from underneath them at some point... That is the same safety net offered to any American... and if they are on a legal path to citizenship then the same applies - perhaps within reason. Trust me... you an I are of like mind on many topics in P&L... I just prefer to view this as a hand up... not a hand out. Of course with no controls on these social programs other than ensuring people have to be dirt poor and with little to no over sight for fraud... well, you get what you get. When gov't programs are ranked successful by the number of people enrolled in them... That math doesn't add up... Social programs like welfare, housing assistance, food stamps, etc should all be ranked on how many people they have moved out of the program... not retain.

And Eaglekeeper, nice try but proggies are not capable of discerning the difference between subsidies and contracts, anymore than they can differentiate between earning something and being given something or between giving someone something and merely not taking it away. It's like trying to teach us hillbillies to use more than one fork - amusing to those around you, but ultimately doomed to failure.

I can't speak for "Proggies" but if by earning something you mean this -- http://www.boston.com/news/nation/w...10/12/26/defense_firms_lure_retired_generals/ -- then indeed I can see why they would be confused.

All those illegals can just simply exploit images of crying mothers and starving babies with no shortage of bleeding heart defenders because that sure worked great for the Palestinians.
