A person immigrants as a fiance(e); gets a good job, but the sponsor is killed before marriage.

That person gets sent back even though they can stand on their own financially.

Is that right?

Said scenario is highly improbable. K-1 doesnt automatically give you the right to work, nor does it confer lawful permanent residence status. You have to file for authorization to work once in the US. That authorization typically takes way longer than the 90 days you have to get married. You have to file for adjustment from K-1 to lawful permanent residence status after you get married within the 90 time frame. So in your scenario, the fiance wouldn't have a job at time of partners death, nor would they be a lawful permanent residence. And since they are not a permanent resident can no long adjust from K-1 to lawful permanent resident they would likely be forced to leave.

If they're talking about legal immigrants I am perfectly fine with that.

I don't mind a safety net... but there was a time when in order to immigrate to this country one had to show the ability and means to be self-sufficient and not need to rely on government programs.

All I know is what was within the media.

It was made to be a bleeding heart piece, so I can concur that the timelines do not add up.

My main bitch is why is the Feds not enforcing the law regarding the sponsor ensuring that the applicant is not dependant for 5 years on the taxpayer and/or kicking them back if they are filing for assistance.

Well what they probably meant to say, is if they did get married, and the spouse died say a day after the marriage, as long as the marriage wasn't a sham marriage, the K-1 holder can still adjust status and won't be kicked out of the country for not being able to support themselves and any children they brought with them.

The problem isn't that people are taking advantage of these programs. The problem is that they exist. I don't fault people for taking advantage of these programs.

My wife's welcome to the USA packet did not have any info of entitlement programs, I think it was mainly about filing taxes but that was 2 years ago.

Where does it say the government is not recovering money from the sponsor?

So what are the numbers on those who receive any social assistance eventually paying it back through a future more financially productive life via taxes and such?

That would be a hell of a study.

The food stamp president. Cloward/Piven being put to use here, welcome illegal immiagrants! Here's your free shit from the free shit fuckstain in the white house.

from the article

The USDA signed a pact in 2004 with Mexico requiring 50 U.S.-based consulates to hand out information to Mexican nationals on how to obtain welfare and other benefits.

😵

So why would this information need to be pushed out IN Mexico, to Mexican citizens? Is this part of a new "Bon Voyage Mexico, Hola America!" package they give to prospective illegals?

I get why Mexico would be clamoring for this, billions of US Dollars are sent back to Mexico every year. In fact, $21 Billion and change for 2010 and 2011 according to the link below.

This whole illegal but not illegal immigration policy is becoming defacto policy as it benefits each .gov, but we are on the hook to pay for it of course and bear the brunt of any negative aspects socially.

But for some reason we let corporations and millions of americans slide on that?

You have people that have signed a document that they will not use government benifits such as medicaid, welfare payments, etc.

and
  1. they are
  2. Our government is letting them know even before they are coming to the US that these are available.
  3. Immigrants are using these packages; illegally.

Hey if plutocrats can lower salaries for highly educated people by bringing H1B's in via their lobbying efforts thats totally cool, but some guy hiring low wage folks to do some work for him...well thats just terrible I tell ya, terrible.

FYI: In CA (at least), illegal immigrants aren't eligible to receive food stamps (CalFresh), CalWORKs, Medi-Cal, and General Assistance.

Does Cal check the legality status?
Do they enforce?

That is much of the problem with the illegals; the government entities responsible for the law do not uphold the law. Federal and State

I find it distasteful they appear to be promoting welfare to immigrants.

I don't... If they came here legally. Keep in mind that they still have to meet the residency and income requirements to get assistance. I don't like that they are promoting the programs, but I have no problem with legal immigrants that need to partake to get them - as long as it helps them get on their feet.

I have a very big problem with it. You shouldn't even be allowed into the country if you're not going to be a producer and are a taker. Most countries are like that. They didn't pay for any of it, so they shouldn't receive any of it. If you start them off with all this free shit, they'll never get off of it like most recipients...they'll lose any motivation to actually work.

Mexico's second biggest industry is having money sent back from the USA. Money we've borrowed, from the most part.

However, we just had an election. The only officially sanctioned outrage is when someone has more than you. Since unskilled Mexican migrants have more than virtually no one, this is officially 'meh'.

And Eaglekeeper, nice try but proggies are not capable of discerning the difference between subsidies and contracts, anymore than they can differentiate between earning something and being given something or between giving someone something and merely not taking it away. It's like trying to teach us hillbillies to use more than one fork - amusing to those around you, but ultimately doomed to failure.

🙁 🙁

That is what my pig sticker is for. I set out the good wooden fork only when the guberment shows up 😛

Sorry but there is simply no logical reason to lure immigrants that are in such dire straights they would be enticed by free stuff to come to a country that has over 23 million citizens out of work other than to expand their entitlement dependent voter base, period!
