the one I purchased failed to boot. cpu was ok but mobo was not working.

Man I've heard alot of people say that! Man mine didn't boot either but once I released JP1 it booted fine.

you got links to where you found out how to set it to 166 (whether it be jumpers, bios hacks, etc...)

im sure he meant 165mhz. .. I havent read/heard anyone running 166 so far.
I did hear however that you boot from normal fsb and set it to 166 or higher within windows with such programs as cpucool and such... I dont hav eproblem with 165mhz except that it is running pci and agp at very high fsb...

well, now im pretty sure he's either bs-ing or maybe got some weird pc chips mobo

edit: saw a weird ddr333 mobo, M826LU (so if he has that one, he got it by accident (most everyone else got the M811LU))

If you order something from Outpost that is out of stock, how long does it usually take for them to get it back in stock? Gibson486, I see where you ordered 3 weeks ago and it's still back ordered. Did you ever get it? The reason I'm asking is because they have what looks to be a great deal (to me at least!) on a P4 2.53Ghz retail box processor/motherboard combo for $140, but it's out of stock. I called and they said they may get some more in in the next few weeks. It looks like an ECS 848P-A motherboard (not sure about that part, but it looks like the same one offered in a different deal.) I've looked around and found the processor alone for $156, so the deal with the motherboard looks like an excellent deal. It's here if anyone wants to look. Let me know if it's a good deal or not. I may go ahead and order one and see if I get it.

I got the ecs k7vta3 over Christmas and built my first box with this system. It's a great system to start with and the price was right for us newbies. Essentially the board costs about $3.00 given the CPU it comes with...

Nope, did not get it yet. I am about to bug them and ask if they can ship it to me for free since i have to wait 😉. I called them, and they said they wer egonna receive a shipment a week ago, but my order stills shows back odered.

anyone think this would be good for my old 4100 parts?
planning on running it as a full time ftp server with my 4 HDs and win xp (that is what is on the HD now). my 4100 mobo seems to be pooping out. i figure i would use this for surfing the web, downloading, uploading, maybe some file conversions. seems ok to me since my 4100 (866mhz) was doing all of that fine before it pooped out 🙂

just checked their site and it seems to be back in stock at $39.99. i was split between this and sempron 3100, but at <$50 shipped, this is a no brainer. games i play run very well with a p3-800 anyway.

I've had one on backorder for almost a month. Just checked my status & it's still backordered. 😕

I did just recieve my Sempron 2500 combo from them this week & put it together on Thursday. I'm already @ 2 GHz (stable with Prime95 for over 24 hrs.) with the supplied ECS mobo & a stick of 128MB RAM from a Dell SC 400 Server deal a while back.

I'm waiting on a stick of Kingston Value RAM 512MB. I hope it clocks as well as the Dell stuff.

This is a great cpu/mobo combo for the average to above average user. I built a PC with this and a cheap case from Ebuyer (thanks Anandtech!) along with some spare parts. It turned out great and the young man I built it for loves it. Perfect for schoolwork, Internet, chatting, simple games etc.

well it was breifly in stock at $39.99, unless i am terribly mistaken. when i actually found my CC to place an order the page read "call for avaiability" again and the price was back up to $49.99.
