Outlook open on two computers while transferring data

The following info is from my father so I dunno how accurate it is:

My uncle had Outlook open on two laptops while transferring data between them(dunno if it was stuff in Outlook or not) and now according to him his Outlook password is locked out.

As I have no prior experience with Outlook does this sound plausable? If so, is there any way to fix it?

Is it plausable? yes If his network password changed while he had outlook open.

Can it be fixed? yes. Close ALL outlook instances. Unlock account. Reboot pc that had the old password.
