Outlook files

a business cient is using Outlook and needs to migrate to another physical system.

What Outlook files are needed to be backed up and moved?

Thanks

You will need to migrate the client's pst files, and the clients .nk2 file. It drives many non-tech people crazy to lose the .nk2 file. This file contains all parties the user has previously emailed, so they only need to type a few letters and outlook will autocomplete.

Also make sure to grab the users .pab and .oab files. These are the addressbooks.

These are usually located in %userprofile%\local settings\application data\microsoft\outlook

Perfect. 🙂 I was just about to post about the .nk2 files. Users at my work get irate when they find out their autocomplete features don't work anymore.

OP, be sure to enable "show hidden files and folders" if you have trouble finding any of the files you need. Tools -> Folder Options -> View. Should be right there.

Thanks all - I will be attemtping to do the migration the first week-end of Nov and will update thread accordingly.
