outlook express sends me double of all my e-mails....

MrDudeMan

i have a hotmail e-mail address, and i use outlook through winxp, but i had this same problem in win2k, so i know its not that. it sends me a duplicate of every e-mail i get....every single one.

when i delete one of them and close OE, it deletes both of them...so if i want to save one, i have to go back and get it out of the trash....

i know how to do it, so its not a big deal, but wtf is going on? why cant it send me just ONE copy of my e-mails?

thanks

all I can think of is you are checking your pop3 box two times everytime you download your mail - before the mail is deleted off the server. Check your mail accounts (in outlook) to see if you have two accounts that are the same, if you do you will check both accounts when you download new mail.

So it could be a pop3 problem, not yours, but I am not sure and can be 100% wrong.

If Outlook Express is already running and then a NEW e-mail is sent from someone, you don't get the "double message". So a cure would be to set Outlook Express to "open", but to not "check for new messages when opening". Once OE is open, then click on the "send/receive messages" button. As to why Microsoft hasn't fixed this problem: don't know.
