Whenever someone sends me a file through my email I have tried to recieve (.doc, .zip, .rar. jpeg) This is what it says - http://www.strike9.com/file.aspx?path=/haVok/thumbnails/weirdemail.jpg It's not my ISP doing this, is there anyway to disable outlook from doing this?

WinXP Home
Outlook Express Version 6.00
Optimum Online Internet
Linksys Etherfast Cable\DSL Router BEFSR41

*EDIT* File size is showing up small, the exact error message is displayed directly below the Reply buttons. "OE Removed access to the following unsafe attachments in your mail : filehere.extension "

Is "wierdemail.jpg known to you as a valid file name? If not you may have been hacked. Sounds like OE or some other program thinks that file name is a virus or a worm or it may contain one. See if you can find that filename using Search and try to delete it.

JPG files can be small in bytes but to small makes it sound suspicious. I have a valid JPG filename that is 4K bytes but it is a good one I created myself.

No nonon, that file was there, to display my problem, I just use paint shop to draw a circle around the error.

It is OK to turn that off but then it leaves you vulnerable to some forms of virus or hacking.

What I do if a attachment I know is being sent to me then I uncheck that same item. After opening the attachment or /and saving it then I go back into that OE menu and reselect that security. There has been a rumor going around that opening a note with an attachment could automatically run an attachment and do some mischief in your computer. Hasn't happened to me so I call it a rumor.

only turn that off if you are certain it's not a virus, you should re enable it after you get your locked file out of your email.

I leave it off only because NAV scans incoming & outgoing emails.
