Outlook Express Question..

When I installed XP Pro, Outlook Express was automatically installed with it. Then I put in my MS Office 2000 CD to install everything else I needed, and it did. Word, Powerpoint, etc. It ALSO installed another version of Outlook and overwrited the previous version. The thing is, is the version on my Office 2000 cd the older or newer version of the one that comes with XP? Because Im having troubles getting my mail with it now, but on my other comp that has the regular Outlook Express (the one that comes with XP) everything is working fine and I can get my mail.

Is there a way I can uninstall Outlook without uninstalling everything else in Office 2000, then install the original Outlook Express that comes with XP??

Thanks in advance..

Outlook and Outlook Express are completely separate programs - they can coexist on the same machine. I'd bet that, somewhere in your Start Menu, you still have an OE icon and it will work fine. There should be a dialog somewhere (don't remember where and I'm not in Windows right now) where you can specify that you prefer OE to handle your email. Or, pop in the Office 2K CD and look for an option about modifying or removing components and remove Outlook entirely.

Go into your internet options and then the programs tab. Change the program you wish to use for e-mail from Microsoft Outlook to Outlook Express.

Now you should have Outlook Express back at the top of your start menu instead of Outlook 🙂
