Outlook Express on Win2000 will not remember e-mail password?

When I set up my e-mail account, type in the password, and check "remember password," then close Outlook Express and reopen I get the prompt to enter my password. I've tried to delete my account and recreate it, again checking "remember password" upon creating the account. Still when restarting OE it prompts for password.

Is there some setting or something I'm missing here? Is this a Win2000 thing as I don't have to enter my password on my XP system?

Help greatly appreciated!

Well this is definitely not a thing that should be default on Win2k. I used Win2k for over 2 years, and never had such a problem... and i would certainly remember if i did. I don't really know, since i don't use Express any longer.

Only thing i can recommend if you can't figure it out, is upgrade to Outlook, or go with another email program like Eudora.

I found a MS knowledge base article on it. Something gets messed up in the registry and it won't store passwords anymore. I had to remove the appropriate memory key, restart and re-enter the passwords. Now it's okay.
