hey, i just installed 2000 on a partition, coming from 98. last time i reformatted my drive, i remember i just copied all the files in the outlook express identity folder, and replaced them once i was done, and all my old email was intact. for some reason tho this time, it wont' work! is this because i'm trying to do it in 2000? i found the right location, it just won't work. is it 2000? or am i just being stupid? someone please help!

thanks

Are you dual booting?

What you can do is to do an Import the messages. That should fix the problem. Go to File, Import, Messages..., OutLook Express 5, Import mail from an OE5 Store Directory, and then select all the folders that you want.

Otherwise, if you want to share the mail box between both Win98 and Win2K, you can go to Tools, Options, Maintenance Tab, Store Folder, and then point to back to the directory containing the mails from the other OS.

problem is i didn't know about exporting messages.. so i just copied the .dbx files.. can i get them back somehow?
