Outlook Email Restore

Windows XP crashed due to a corrupted file; I successfully reinstalled it without reformating, thus saving my data and some settings. Then, I used "xcopy" to transfer my user data/settings from the folders with my old data to the same folders in the new windows installation (all on same hard drive). (No my registry was not backed up). I did reinstall my various apps, including Office XP Pro including the Outlook email. My "old" emails and address book transferred successfully. However, I cannot send/receive or even access the email account to reconfigure it. Before I start shooting in the dark, does anyone know what I should look for in this mess?

I am tempted to save data files, pst, pab files and do a clean format, installation, ie starting from scratch. At lease I have all my data in tact. My data files were backed up anyway.

Thank you for any advise.

Did you by chance burn these files to a disk and copy them to your new install?
If so, you need to change the file properties off of "Read Only".

Sorry, I did not burn them; your point is well taken and understood. I kep them all on the same hard drive. I do recall a prompt about whether some of the files would be read only or hidden and cannot recall what I did (or did not) check for read only files. I will go in and try to clean up, including your tip on the read only. If that fails then I will reformat and start a clean version.

Thank you.
