Outlook 2002 keeps asking for network password?

a screen comes up that says enter network password. it has three boxes, all filled in (my pop3 mail address, the email address, the password)

i just hit ok and then it goes through...

but why does it pop up at all? (its getting annoying)

Did you check to see if the "Remember password" boxed is checked?

To check, goto in Outlook:

Tools\E-Mail Accounts\View or change exsisting e-mail accounts\<account>\Change
under Logon Information

yeah, its checked under "email accounts" (and the password is filled in when the box comes up, but the "remember password" setting is unchecked in the box that comes up - strange)

What ISP? MSN Broadband and a number of other ISP's have similar problems. If in Outlook, you were required to check some of the "Logon using Secure Password Authentication" or "My Outgoing Server (SMTP) requires authentication" boxes in your Outlook account settings, this is a 'feature' and there is really nothing you can do about it. 🙁

If you have any of those boxes check and your ISP doesn't require it, uncheck them and problem solved.

The same thing happens to me. i always just assumed it was from a time delay imposed on checking mail.
