I have Outlook set up to check my mail server for email when I click the send/receive button.

The mail server is set up under 'Internet email' and I just specify the local IP address to conect to.
Is there any way to get Outlook to check for mail as soon as I load it up, rather than just when I click send/receive, like it would do if it was running in conjunction with Exchange server?

OK, I may just be being dumb here, but where is that option?

That's the sort of thing I have been searching for, but I cannot for the life of me find it.
I have tried searching in help for things similar to that, but I can't find anything.

Okay... I just compared Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express. I'm
assuming you're using just plain Outlook. It doesn't have that feature
that bjb86s suggested. Outlook Express has that feature. I don't see
it under MS Outlook.

Under Outlook Express... you go to Tools > Options and
it's under the General Tabs... you'd see Send / Receive Messages ... you want
to check where it says Send and Receive Messages at Startup. Hope this helps!

Also, you can have it check for new messages every minute rather than every 3 minutes. I can't remember exactly where you can change that, but it is somewhere in the Send/Receive options. When you change it to check every minute, it will most likely check for new mail every time you start up. Hope this helps.
